Laboratory introduction

General information

  • Laboratory notebook. It is mandatory an individual lab notebook. The lab notebook might be reviewed and rated by the professors.
  • Labcoats and protective glasses. It is mandatory to wear cotton lab coat and approved protective glasses.
  • There will be a daily pre-test on the topic of each laboratory session, and passing it is mandatory in order to participate in the practical work. The pre-tests will open at 9:00 a.m. and close at 3:00 p.m. on the same day of the corresponding session.

IMPORTANT. STUDENTS MUST SIGN A FORM TO CONFIRM THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE SAFETY REGULATIONS, AND IT IS MANDATORY TO BRING THIS SIGNED FORM ON THE FIRST DAY OF LAB WORK.

Report guidelines

  • Cover. Practicum title, name of the students, number of the Team, delivery date.
  • Objective / Introduction. 1-2 concise paragraphs briefing the objective of the practicum.
  • Experimental. Including description of the sample, instrumentation used (glassware is not instrumentation), all the experimental data (organized in tables is preferable). An example of the calculation for each section (preparation of standard solutions; calibration plot; …
  • Results. When possible, accompanied by their confidence interval. For non-linear fitting, use GraphPad according to the professor instructions. You can download a 30 day free trial of the software here.
  • Conclusion. Brief summary of the results, comparison with the expected values ​​(comparison with values in the tags in case of commercial products, values obtained according the legislation, legal standard, …)
  • Extension. 2 pages DIN-A4, double-sided printed: one page for the cover, other one for objectives and experimental. No limitation for results and conclusion. ARIAL 11 pt, line spacing SIMPLE.
  • The three practicum should be compiled in one document and should be uploaded in the next section.
