BioEclosion and UAB featured by the European Commission’s Innovation Radar for a market-ready rapid diagnostic biosensor

A rapid diagnostic technology developed by BioEclosion and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) has been assessed by the European Commission’s Innovation Radar and classified as “Market Ready”, with “Market Creation Potential: Noteworthy”.

The European Commission, through its Innovation Radar initiative, has evaluated and selected an innovation developed within the EU-funded EChiLiBRiST project. The innovation will be featured on the Commission’s public Innovation Radar platform, which showcases high-potential results emerging from Horizon Europe and H2020 projects and helps increase their visibility to potential partners, customers, and investors.

The recognised innovation is titled “Rapid test based on a magneto-actuated biosensor for quantitative assessment of sTREM-1 and Ang-2 at the point of care”. It is a rapid test built around a magneto-actuated biosensing approach, designed to enable quantitative point-of-care measurement of clinically relevant biomarkers (sTREM-1 and Ang-2), with potential use in settings where fast, actionable results are essential.

In the Innovation Radar assessment, the technology received two key classifications:
– Market Maturity: Market Ready, indicating an advanced level of maturity and a clear pathway towards real-world deployment.
– Market Creation Potential: Noteworthy, signalling strong potential to generate value and impact in the market.

In addition, the Innovation Radar analysis identifies BioEclosion and UAB as “Key Innovators” contributing to the development of this innovation.

What it means to be featured on the Innovation Radar
The Innovation Radar is a European Commission tool designed to increase the visibility of promising innovations from EU-funded projects. The public entry typically includes basic information about the innovation and the project (such as acronym, title, description, and end date), without disclosing sensitive technical details or project deliverables. Publication is expected approximately 30–45 days after the notification.

Next steps and support opportunities
Being featured may also facilitate access to EU support services aimed at accelerating market uptake and technology transfer, including:
– “Claim your page” on the Innovation Radar platform to add public information about the organisation and its innovations.
– “Go to market” training and support via Dealflow.eu.
– Horizon Results Booster services (Portfolio Dissemination and Exploitation Strategy, Business Plan Development, and Go-to-Market support), available at no cost to eligible projects.
