The Biosensing and Bioanalysis Group at the Institut de Biotecnologia i de Biomedicina (IBB), Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), is inviting expressions of interest from outstanding postdoctoral researchers interested in jointly preparing a proposal for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships 2026 call. The opportunity focuses on portable CRISPR/Cas electrochemical biosensing for One Health diagnostics.
The call is aimed at researchers who wish to develop innovative projects in areas such as CRISPR/Cas-enabled electrochemical biosensing for decentralized molecular diagnostics, portable nucleic-acid testing integrating magnetic sample preparation, amplification and battery-operated readout, and One Health applications in human, animal, food and environmental surveillance.
Hosted at IBB-UAB, the Biosensing and Bioanalysis Group has extensive expertise in in vitro diagnostic tests, biosensors and bioinstrumentation, with a particular focus on electrochemical biosensing, magneto-actuated platforms, rapid diagnostic tests, nanobiomaterials and biomimetic materials. The group develops affordable and portable technologies for point-of-need use in community care, primary healthcare, food safety and environmental monitoring, with special attention to low-resource settings.
This MSCA hosting opportunity builds on a strong portfolio of competitive projects, including SenS4IVD, EChiLiBRiST, ExoSens, ColiFinder, MEMoRiEx and CRISPER, as well as broad experience in training doctoral and postdoctoral researchers in interdisciplinary bioanalytical chemistry and translational biosensing.
UAB offers an excellent environment for postdoctoral career development. According to the hosting information, the university combines a strong international profile, a multidisciplinary campus located near Barcelona, previous success in Horizon Europe MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships, dedicated proposal support, international welcome services, and a clear commitment to research excellence and sustainability.
Interested candidates must fulfil the MSCA-PF 2026 eligibility criteria by the official call deadline, including holding a PhD, complying with the maximum postdoctoral research experience allowed, and meeting the mobility rule. Expressions of interest should be submitted in English by May 10, 2026. Preselected candidates will be notified by May 30, 2026, and the official MSCA-PF call deadline is September 9, 2026.
Applications should include a short CV, a brief research statement, a cover letter, reference contacts or a recommendation letter, and a signed declaration of eligibility.
This call represents an excellent opportunity for talented postdoctoral researchers seeking to advance their careers in a highly interdisciplinary environment at the interface of analytical chemistry, biosensing, molecular diagnostics and One Health innovation. UAB encourages applications from researchers of all backgrounds and is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive research environment.
