We are very pleased to congratulate Juan Carlos Porras Marichal, Industrial PhD student in Chemistry at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, for receiving the Best Presentation and Poster Award at the XV Doctoral Workshop of the PhD in Chemistry, held on May 20–21, 2026, at the Faculty of Science of the UAB.
Juan Carlos is carrying out his Industrial Doctorate within the framework of the Department of Chemistry of the UAB and the start-up BioEclosion, where he works on the development of portable electrochemical biosensing technologies for decentralized analytical applications.
At the workshop, he presented his contribution entitled “Portable electrochemical biosensing platform for point-of-need”, which was recognised for both the quality of the scientific work and the clarity of its presentation.
The Doctoral Workshop brings together PhD students from the Chemistry programme to share their research, exchange ideas with peers and senior researchers, and strengthen the scientific community within the Department of Chemistry.
